Our Disaster Response Team needs you!

Attend one of two Virtual Info Sessions to learn how St. Luke’s is there for our congregation and community in the event of a storm. Whether you can help with calling shut ins, helping to clean up campus or with administrative needs, we need a team ready to respond if a storm hits our area. Attend one of 2 Virtual Information Sessions to learn more.

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO LOW ATTENDANCE FOR THE INFO SESSION ON JUNE 16, THIS INFO SESSION HAS BEEN CANCELLED. But, please let us know if you are interested in being part of this team. We will contact you directly to give you more information.

 

You can help by being part of our Disaster Response Team:

Crew Team Leaders

This role will lead volunteer teams to assess damage and lead work crews for home repair and debris clean up. Our teams will assist the most vulnerable – shut-ins, elderly, single parents, financially distressed, and special needs in our congregation, the community and in East Winter Garden.  Immediately following the storm for 1 week or until volunteers return to their jobs.

Minor Home Repair 

These volunteers will assist with minor home repairs as assigned by a St. Luke’s Crew Leader. We will have some tools available, but you are encouraged to bring what you will need. Your Crew Leader can help with that list. Immediately following the storm for 1 week or until volunteers return to their jobs.

Minor Debris Clean-up Team

This team will be helping clean up for the most vulnerable in our community and in East Winter Garden. Please bring work gloves, rakes, heavy duty garbage bags and wear closed toe shoes. Immediately following the storm for 1 week or until volunteers return to their jobs.

Food and Hospitality Team

If you have the gift of Hospitality, we need you. We will be serving dinners and bringing food to those in need. All you need is a smile and a caring heart. A car for deliveries will be helpful for several on this team but not a requirement.  Immediately following the storm for 3 days or until volunteers return to their jobs.

Phone Bank Volunteer Team

This team will take calls from those needing help from the church and community. You should have a caring heart, a calming demeanor, and the gift of patience! Immediately following the storm for 1 week or until volunteers return to their jobs.

Care Call Team

This team will make calls before AND after the storm to church members who are shut-ins, elderly, special needs, and single parents. Some may need support. Others a prayer. AND some may need volunteer support at their home.

Donation Team

This team will organize incoming donations AND sending donations that we do NOT need to other organizations.  Immediately following the storm for 1 week or until volunteers return to their jobs.
