The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) brings people together to harvest vegetables and fruits which would otherwise go to waste to support communities.Each year, 119 billion pounds of food is wasted in the United States. That equates to 130 billion meals and more than $408 billion in food thrown away each year. Over the past few years, St. Luker’s and SoSA have helped reduce food waste and provide fresh fruit to those experiencing food insecurity in Central Florida. You can be part of our gleaning team and/or you can have volunteers come to your yard to pick excess fruit.
